BAIME, VLASIC NAMED KEN PURDY WINNERS IN CEREMONY AT NY AUTO SHOW
NEW YORK, APRIL 4, 2012 ? The International Motor Press Association presented its Ken Purdy Award for excellence in automotive writing to A.J. Baime and Bill Vlasic today during the first day of media previews for the New York International Automobile Show.
Baime received the 2011 honor for his tome Go like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Glory at LeMans, while Vlasic was named 2012 winner for his book Once Upon A Car: The Fall and Resurrection of America’s Big Three Auto Makers–GM, Ford and Chrysler.
IMPA established the award in 1972 in memory of Ken Purdy, considered by many as perhaps the best auto writer this country has produced.
