Zoom program on breakthroughs in digital, online auto retailing Tuesday, Jan. 12
True online buying and selling of new cars remains the last major holdout of brick-and-mortar retailing. On Tuesday, Jan. 12, Digital Motors Co-founder and CEO Andreas Hinrichs, will describe how his startup can seamlessly turn any dealership or dealer group’s Website (or a manufacturer’s or dealer advertising group’s) into a fully functional online store.
Online auto retailing began with the used car market, with firms like Carvana. On the new-car front, the industry has been slow in progressing, though the pandemic’s impact on in-store retailing (of all types) has spurred these efforts (including a recent announcement by Nissan to introduce such a service nationally). In addition, there is a group of customers who prefer to do their buying through an electronic device.
The Zoom presentation, including a demonstration of the service, begins at noon EST with Hinrichs’s presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period. The program will conclude at 1 p.m.
