Test Day 2022

Two Honda motorcycles – NC 750X and Rebel 1100 – have been added to the IMPA Test Day (next Tuesday, Sept. 20th) mix for sampling as well as a new Honda Pioneer 1000 Trail on static display. To try the bikes, participants must have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license as well as a helmet.

The motorcycles join a vehicle roster which includes: Acura (MDX SH-AWD Type S, Integra A-Spec w/Tech), Ford (Lightning, Mustang), Honda (Ridgeline, HR-V AWD EX-L), Hyundai (IONIQ 5, Palisade), Mazda (MX-5 Miata Grand Touring, CX-50), Mercedes-Benz (C300, AMG GT35); Lexus (RC 350 F Sport, NX 450h), Toyota (Tundra Capstone, GR Supra 2.0), Volkswagen Arteon and Volvo (XC90 B6).

This year’s IMPA Test Day will again be headquartered at Bear Mountain State Park, Bear Mountain, NY. Further information can be found at https://www.impa.org/test-day/. The program will mirror last year’s successful event at this venue less than an hour north and west of New York City. Driving is scheduled to begin at approximately 9 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $60 and can be purchased by clicking on this sentence.

Driving is limited to members of IMPA, WAPA and NEMPA (active members in other groups of this nature, such as MPG, MAMA or APA, should contact info@impa.org to gain admittance).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Now more than ever automotive industry PR reps need to justify supporting drive events. And without industry support, events such as Test Day and Spring Break will go the way of the woolly mammoth. Social media is something that’s easy for journalists to do, and posts from IMPA members that originate from an IMPA driving event help our PR members and partners show their respective teams the value of participating in an IMPA event. So, for Test Day, please use #IMPATestDay2022 in your social media posts.

BRING SOMETHING SPECIAL: If you’re the sort of motor scribe who looks back fondly on the days when cars had three-abreast seating, four-barrel carbs and key sets you could duplicate for five bucks at the hardware store, it’s conceivable you might own a classic, modified or special-interest auto warranting display at Test Day.  Members who exhibit their pride-and-joy at Bear Mountain State Park Tuesday will, of course, qualify for the annual Chair’s Choice Award presented by car show organizer Gregg D. Merksamer.  Prospective entrants are encouraged to e-mail him at merks62@warwick.net if they have questions or can offer history on their vehicle that can be used to prepare a dashboard card in advance.
