What might it mean when the design manager of the Pontiac Solstice moves to Mazda, the company which revived the sports car roadster nearly 20 years ago? Answers will be forthcoming along with other information about the importance of design in today’s market when Mazda’s North American Director of Design Franz von Holzhausen speaks to IMPA Thursday, June 21 at the 3 West Club. The program begins with a noon reception followed by lunch, von Holzhausen’s presentation and a question-and-answer session at the club, 3 West 51st Street, New York. Tickets are $35 for IMPA members, $45 for others. As Design Director, von Holzhausen is responsible for overseeing the design and development of all vehicles for Mazda North American Operations. He was appointed to this position in February 2005 and is based out of the company’s research & development facility in Irvine, Calif.
