IMPA Spring Brake – Genesis and BMW vehicles and a new Acura set for Tuesday (May 17)

Mercedes-Benz and Ford – the latter with a unique reveal for an IMPA event – yesterday joined the list of vehicle providers coming to Bear Mountain Tuesday for Spring Brake and today we learned which BMW and Genesis models would be on hand.

The Germans will have the i4 eDRive40, iX xDrive50, M4 Convertible and M240i xDrive, while the Korean luxury brand will be represented by two (2) GV60 Performance AWDs and a GV70 3.5T AWD Sport Prestige.

In addition, we lost the Honda Civic Si but in its place Acura is sending a MDX Type S which arrived today – Friday the 13th – in the East Coast press fleet: fair exchange for the newer vehicle.

The Blue Oval crew will bring a Ford Expedition Timberline (along with a Mustang Mach-E GT, Bronco and Maverick) which members will be able to drive and photograph ONE WEEK prior to the public announcement of the SUV. All the Ford folk are asking is that IMPA members respect the embargo and refrain from publication and/or posting of information until May 26th.

The roster of participating vehicle brands to date is: Acura, BMW, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz MINI, Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa, Fiat), Toyota and Volvo, with more very possible.

Some of the vehicles scheduled to appear include: Mazda CX-50; Hyundai IONIQ 5; Acura RDX; Kia EV6; Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe; Nissan Rogue with VC-Turbo; Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe; Lexus LX 600 and Toyota Tundra Limited.

This year’s program will be Tuesday, May 17th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the Carousel at Bear Mountain State Park, Bear Mountain, N.Y. Tickets are again $50 for members. Spring Brake tickets can be purchased by clicking on this sentence.

All manufacturers are invited to bring as many products as they wish, all for a registration fee of $500. Please contact info@impa.org to let us know what you will be bringing this year.

As always, driving is limited to IMPA members and members of invited “sibling” organizations like NEMPA and WAPA.

Further questions can be submitted to info@impa.org or by calling Mike Geylin at 201-341-1099.
