The vehicle which might pull up to the curb in the coming years in response to “TAXI!” will be the topic of the February 15 meeting when Deborah Marton, Executive Director of the Design Trust for Public Space, discusses Taxi 07, a project of the Trust.
Taxi 07 will celebrate the New York City cab’s centennial, foster design innovation and develop a taxi master plan in conjunction with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission. Taxi 07 culminates in April with an exhibition of taxi concepts at the New York International Auto Show, which collectively focus on sustainable mobility, access for all and good design. Marton will provide a sneak peak of the Taxi 07 Exhibit with an emphasis on major automotive manufacturers contributing to transforming the iconic New York City yellow cab.
The program begins with a noon reception followed by lunch, the presentation and a question-and-answer session at the regular venue, the 3 West Club, 3 West 51st Street, New York. Tickets are $35 for members, $45 for others.
